Foamed bitumen stabilisation (FBS) is a popular method used to enhance granular material strength while maintaining a pavement's flexibility. The process involves the injection of minimal quantities of air and water into standard-grade bitumen at high pressure to produce foamed bitumen. Doing so allows for the significant expansion of bitumen, resulting in more than its original volume.
The resulting visco-elastic foamed bitumen is a highly durable, strong and flexible material that helps rehabilitate pavement surfaces against weather elements and wear and tear.
